Long time!

Well, it has been a while since I have been able to post. Basically that has been because if I am not in class, then I am working or at church. I have been working 25 to 36 hours on top of school full time, and it has sucked. Good news is that I am changing jobs. I got a job at Old Navy so that hopefully will take care of the over hours. I am loving my classes though. I was late in registering so my classes are mostly electives.
I am taking a Writing 222 class which is an argumentative essay class. I love this class. My lastest master piece is an essay on why Horatio Caine is the most annoying TV character ever! If you need proof simply youtube "horatio caine one liners" and watch.
Other classes are Anthropology 110 which is my least favorite, Sociology 205, which I like a lot and finally Art 310 which is a drawing classes. I love it. I am getting better :) I will have to take some pictures of my art work and post.
Ben is also going full time but lucky guys isn't working right now. He is taking a health and human sciences, history, econ and statisitics. He really likes his history class, the others he is more or less doing to get out of the way.
Well, that is it for now.
Hopefully I will find some time to post more soon!

Home Made Sushi

I was browsing the good old Albany Heritage Mall the other day and wandered into the Walden Book Store. They had a clearance shelf of all cook books and I LOVE cook books so I got pretty excited. Then I saw that they were by two get one free and I knew that I had to get some. I ended up getting a Sushi making kit as one of my buys and was stoked at the idea of making my own sushi. We have made friends with a guy that lives in our apartments and his girlfriend and they mentioned that they too have wanted to try making sushi. This is our result :) I have to say that I think we did a good job! Ben took the pictures so they are just of me and our neighbor. Tip #1 make sure the layer of rice is very thin. Ben was the 1st to go and his is too thick with rice. You will see his end product at the end of the post.

We had two types of sushi. The one I made here has cream cheese, smoked salmon and avocado.
The other was a California roll with fake crab, cucumber and avocado. Yum Yum!

Here is my roll! I was one of the last to go, so I got to see what worked and didn't work so mine turned out pretty good.

These are Ben's. Like I said earlier, he used a little too much rice. It still tasted wonderful!

This is Caleb and his sticky hands. It gets pretty messy.

Huggle

My three year old niece Miriam has always said huggle in place of snuggle and it is so dang cute we haven't ever corrected her. So the other night I fell asleep with my lamp on and woke up to turn it off only to have this image in my face. Ory is the greatest huggling dog ever. When Ben was in the Army he would have to go to the field on many occasions for days at a time. This left me home alone at night. So to help me feel safe I let Ory sleep with me and taught her how to huggle up. So now she sneaks her way in between Ben and I at night and this is what we get.

Hike to the top of Table Rock

Ben, and I decided to take Ory and go hiking on one of his days off. It was going to be a sunny day outside and was too beautiful to waste sitting inside. Ben had wanted to go on this hike for a little while and the timing was perfect. It wasn't too big of a hike. It was four miles to the top so eight mile round trip and we climbed just over 1000 feet in elevation. The view from the top was pretty amazing. There were a few sketchy areas, but overall it was a very nice trail.
We will hike to the top of this cliff you can see here. Ory has on her back pack! Everyone carries their own lunch in our family :)
At the top! It was quite a steep hike but it was beautiful. If you want to see a crazy hike, then you should check out my friends Kenna and Jason's blog. They recently hike to the top of the German Alps. Their blog is linked on mine, Awesomeblog 5000 I believe it is called. Crazy stuff!
One more step and I literally would walk right off the cliff. I was making Ben just a little nervous here.

Ory had so much fun! They say that for every mile we hike, dogs hike four. I believe it. Ory would always be running ahead and then come back to check on us only to take off again. She had so much fun. She really loves the outdoors.

Wedding Season

This summer has been filled with weddings! I have really enjoyed it. I love being there to see couples start their lives together. It reminds me how it was only 4 1/2 years ago that Ben and I started our marriage and I have loved every moment do far. He is so sweet and the best husband I could ask for. I just wanted to give him a little thanks for all that he is and does and how much he loves me.
Thank you!

Quick Update

Hey! I know that it has been a while and even though I have nothing too interesting to write about, I thought the few that check in every once and a while might like an update.
Ben and I moved into our new place. We are happy to have our stuff accessible. Ben is working and registered for the fall at OSU. I am waiting to hear back about a part time job at Macy's and then I will register for school as well.
More to come!

Katelyn's 16th birthday cake

The family was going to be in Utah for Kaite's birthday (which is today, Happy Birthday Katie!) and I really wanted to make her a birthday cake, so we decided to do a little celebration while we were at the park for the 4th of July. This is the cake I made! The bottom tier was roads on a green background.
The top tier was clouds on a blue sky with traffic signals placed randomly.

I made a few stop signs and some little cars to go on the cake.

The topper was this sun that had the number 16 on it.

And here it is! It turned out pretty cute! The only things that bothers me is that i didn't bring frosting to cover up the cake board between the tiers. Oh well, it still turned out cute.

us singing happy birthday and it all lit up.

Miriam could not wait to "eat one of the cars." She had her eye on them as soon as she knew they were edible.

After we ate some of the cake we reassembled the half eaten cars to make a car wreck scene, with the added touches of flames from the sun. It is pretty funny.
